Media Center 11.0.24 Alpha
« on: July 13, 2004, 05:26:29 pm »

We're just starting work on Media Center 11.  From time to time, we'll share our progress.

Think of these early builds like the hole in the ground before you start building a house.  Much like the hole, it's hard to get excited about these builds, and if you're not careful with them, you'll get hurt.

When upgrading from MC 10, you will lose your settings.  Some plugins will not work yet.

Please uninstall builds prior to MC 11.0.12 before installing. (no need to uninstall 11.0.12)  As always, backup your library.

ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter110024.exe

10.0.24 (7/13/04)

1. Fixed: MC would not import from the Windows or Program Files directories, even if they were specifically added to the import folder list.
2. Changed: Moved option for storing cover art inside tags to Options > General > Importing & Tagging.
3. Fixed: Panes would not update properly after changes when they showed calculated fields that referenced other calculated fields.
4. Fixed: Cross-fades could be slightly shorter than expected when manually switching tracks. (especially with slow sources)
5. NEW: Added option to clear Playing Now on exit. (clears Playing Now for all playback zones)
6. Changed: Theater View does a better job of updating its display when switching zones.
7. Fixed: Theater View would not leave fullscreen for escape / double-click when zones were switched in fullscreen mode.

MC isn't yet associating itself with Widows explorer right-click functions.

3. Fixed: Panes would not update properly after changes when they showed calculated fields that referenced other calculated fields.

Right. Ultra-quickly fixed (working correctly for me now anyway).

Thanks for getting plugins working in .23.  Much appreciated.

Here's one I think I mentioned once before, but haven't figured out how to fix it:

39 tracks in my library, since I upgraded to 11 quite a few versions back, have no duration.  They play just fine, but in the info bar at the top of the window, it gives me (elapsed time)/"Live".

Is there a way to force MC to re-read the duration from these files (38 APES, 1 MP3)?

G-Force plugin isn't working for me. When I try to install it says 'No supported media players were detected'.

i *think* only interface plugins are supported thus far, so gforce and remote plugins etc dont work yet. unless i'm mistaken (a regular occurance)

After upgrading my library from 10 to 11, all my "Multiple Artists" albums are showing as individual artists in the main Audio view.  When I select a particular Genre, they revert to "Multiple Artists" correctly, but when I go back to "All" Genres it splits out the individual artists.  It seems like the main Audio view is setup just like I had it in v10 but it is behaving differently.

Any way we can remove the services from the Action Window, or at least move them to the bottom?

While scanning for new files and updating library, the "Cancel" button is greyed out, and you don't seem to be able to interrupt the process.

Ok, I've got a HELP request or an RFE ... Don't know which it is yet ..

Ive got all sorts of DUPLICATE file searches ... And, Ive got this big ol' database of music ... and there are over 4,000 dupes ...

Is there any way to SELECT FILES based on a search criteria?
If not, can we add one ... Like a limiter called ~select=MAX-Duration ... Somehow choosing the file with the longest duration, or highest bitrate, or something ?

Going through and selecting 2000 songs is going to kill me ... Ive done it before, but MAN that takes forever ...

No ?!   That would delete all of my files ... Not only the dulpicates, but the originals ...

File 1
File 1 Dup
File 2
File 2 Dup
File 2 Dup
File 3
File 3 Dup

I need it to only select the DUP files ...

Jim, is the only way to remove them from the Action Window to uninstall them?  I'd like to use them, but I think it is sufficient that they show up in the tree view and are not needed in the AW.

Edit:  Or at least let us move them to the bottom of the AW.  With their current location at the top of the AW, they tend to get in the way when I want to edit tags.

That's the only way.  In a future version, we expect to group them under one icon.

Well, I ended up deleting these from the library and re-importing them.  The duration is now correct for these files.  I guess that the version of MC11 I used when I initially converted my library had a bug that has been subsequently fixed.
