JRiver - Problem with license restoration

Two days ago I had to perform a clean reinstall of XP Pro because WMP9 and ZoomPlayer WMV PRO wouldn't play any of my new WMV HD discs. Seems something went seriously wrong with the OS.

Using Opera 7.53 I tried to restore my MC10 license two times without success.

I then remembered that license restoration only seems to work when using IE6 (which I hate and normally avoid). I opened IE6 and successfully peformed one license restore.  

However, I subsequently received 2 emails from JRiver with license keys; presumably when I was trying to restore my license with my Opera browser. The emails were about 2 or 3 minutes apart. So it seems I have accidently lost two restores. I'm now down to 4 restores left for the year, when I think I should have 6 restores left for the year. I'm not sure when my year ends either, although 6 restores should be plenty if XP behaves itself.

I would appreciate it if my license restore number could be properly reset. Thanks.

P.S. It would be nice if you could make Media Center license restoration more browser friendly to Opera and Firefox users.

If this would be too much hassle, how about a page that detects that you're not using IE and says
License restoration on browsers other than IE is problematical. Continue at your own risk?
It would save you a lot of threads like this

He would have used only one restore if he did.

It does also state on the FAQ that users should use IE

But I Agree This System Is Not Perfict

I never worked out how to save that file, it just does it automatically whenever i use IE.

I wouldn't hold my breath for non IE browser support.

I think JimH is wrong on a few levels...  MSIE is *not* a standard - it is simply the most deployed and used browser on the market.  Firefox takes pride in conforming to the only HTML standard in existence (the W3C's HTML 4.01) and it's terrible to see developers consider this a bad thing.

I really appreciate programs like FeedDemon that go to great extent to allow users to choose which embedded browser to use!

But concerning this topic:  it would seem inexcusable for a web developer to insist that users run MSIE - unless they worked in Redmond :-)

MSIE is *not* a standard - it is simply the most deployed and used browser on the market.

Jim, I don't really want to get into an arguement about what the word "standard" means, but I've seen you quote market share percentages a few times in threads.  While the overall market share for IE may very well be 94% (or whatever you quoted), I think you might be suprised to find that within your customer base, that percentage is much much lower.

Have you looked at your logs or run a poll to get a feel for what percentage of your customers use what browser?  I have a feeling that you will find a much higher percentage than 6% are using Mozilla/Firefox/Opera...  Of course, I could be wrong! :)

That's exactly what I tried to do in Opera, but the Opera's screen could not return any meaningful info suggesting that the file was being downloaded or could be downloaded. Instead, I saw a screen full of what appeared to be hexidecimal code, which I assumed was the restore key in a useless form.

Our web stats for the current month say:

90.3% IE
5.6% Netscape (some may be Firefox)
....
0.15% Opera
.....
etc.

With Opera (and probably with all the rest) if you right-click and then choose save as, you get a file containing an Install Key, just double click on that, and you will be licensed.

Would y'all opera users (or firefox or whatever) verify that you have JavaScript enabled?
