problem installing the latest version 11.72
« on: August 30, 2004, 04:35:29 pm »

Every since I installed micosoft service pack 2, I been unable to install any newer version of mc pass the one I have now 11.0.68. The newer version download with no problem. I turn off all my firewalls. still the same thing happens. The install wizard appears perparing for installation. But after it perpares it self, normally license agreement appears, but It dosen't go through with the installation. I first notice this with 11.0.70 version thinking maybe the next build would fix this problem. But low and behold the same problem with the latest buld. I don't this problem with any other problem as far as a installation issue since the service pack 2 update except for media center.                                                                                                                                Media Center Registered 11.0.68 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 11\

11.0.68 version I have works fine to. But what I am saying is I have a problem installing versions 11.0.70, and 11.0.72 builds on my computer. 11.0.68 works all day long. But when this version may time out, And I cant install a newer version while it working I may not be able to install it then. I still have version 10.0.61 on my computer to. I'm affaid to uninstall that version, because I may be left with no versions at all.  Both 10.0.61, 11.068 version are working I just update the 11.0.70 thru .72 version. or install those or install 10.068 . You should be able to install over top any version. Uninstall  first and then reinstalling is not a option I WILL BE S.O.L if I don that.

When double clicking on the windowed TV screen it would jump from a small screen to full screen.  Double clicking again would reduce it back to a small window as you would expect. Now, double clicking will reunite the TV window with the main MC body... NOT WHAT I WANT :P

You could use WinRAR to decompress the MediaCenter1100xx.exe file.

Then try to run InstallWizard.exe

If it won't run, try using this program www.dependencywalker.com on InstallWizard.exe to see the problem.

Thanks, and let us know what you find.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that the next build because I uninstalled Microsoft service pack 2 when back to service pack 1 and it installed fine. I guess I'm having problems with the new service on my machine here. Because I reinstalled the sp2 and the same problem arose again so it got to be the sp2 that causing the problem. but I'll try that and let you guys know the verdit.
