finding duplicates

Does anyone know if there is a way (auto playlist, view) that would make it easy to identify duplicate tracks?

hakuin...there is a smartlist to find duplicates in your library...look on the tree (left hand side of the screen), select playlists>add smartlist, then look at the smartlist rule pull down menu...it's there.   B

Thanks.  I found the smartlist.  I also created a view with a rule that find duplicates based on a set of fields.

The reason I wanted to do this is because somehow in moving my library from one hard drive to another, I ended up with a lot of files showing twice -- one with the audio icon, the dupe with the not-found icon (gray doc with red x).  I used duplicate finding rule to view them so i could delete them....much easier than scrolling to find 300 dupes in 10,000 songs.

wouldn't it have been easier just  to do the files>library> update library>remove files that do not exist? that would have removed all those pesky little exed files in one fell swoop.  ;)   Bet

That Works Fine In MC9 And MC10

For Some Reason That Option Is No Longer Aval In MC11

I Can't Find It, I Feel That Was A Big Mistake To Remove It (I Want It Back!!!!)

What You Need To Do In MC11 Is Reimport Files (You Can Point It To A Empty Folder) And That Will Fix Missing Linked Files.

ya i think I said that, would be a bit more handy if you did not need to go thru all of that.

hmm..  I guess you did.

They're probably gonna assume people will just add their directories and be done with it. Then all you have to do is re run the import.

need a break. be back later...
