Creating thumbnails...
« on: September 14, 2004, 03:40:31 pm »

I've noticed that while creating local thumbnails for my Media Library (while connected to the Media Server on another system) that sometimes the same image (like the cover art for an album) will show as transferring 10, 20, even 30 times.

I assume that this is happening once for each song in an album.  Is it possible to optimize this so that the image is only transferred once for the entire album?  It would make thumbnail generation take significantly less time.

Thanks,
Shadowen

Good idea, it would be nice if MC used a hash or something to tell if a track is using the same image as one it has already created a thumbnail for.

Inside the same view, MC shouldn't load the same image twice.

Are you sure that's what it's doing, or does this only happen when using the "Build Thumbnails..." command?

Thanks.

It is happening when I do the Build Thumbnails command.

Is it possible to associate cover art in the database with an album, instead of a track.  Would that resolve the issue, or create more issues?
