Restore Library Doesn't Work
« on: September 15, 2004, 06:06:20 pm »

Hi
I had to remove everything off my computer and reinstall because of a virus. I have no trouble bringing in files on my hard drive. But when I click on Restore library Backups it says Library is restored but actually it removes all the files I have imported into Media Center and no restore is done.
Also since I reinstalled MC G Force won't work.
Any ideas guys?  :(

Don't know.  Are you restoring with the version you used when you backed up?  Did you try another backup?

Hi Jim
I tried installing version 11. 76 which was the one I had before I had to clear my hard drive. And the weirdest thing has happened. The top of my Media player is not there. No controls, Tools, Help menu only the playing now window and the action window. So its getting worse.

Should I try installing version 10?

That version and later versions use the same library, so that isn't the problem.

You may have a corrupt registry.  Try deleting these registry keys, using regedit.  You will lose all your settings, but you may be able to restore after you install the latest build of MC.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Center 11

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Core

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11

Then uninstall, reboot, and reinstall.

Jim
I have found the problem the IT technician took it on himself to move my backup library to another drive.
When I realised that and changed it back, it restored as good as gold.  :)
Thanks for your assistance.
