Plugin Feature Request - Memo for Playing Now
« on: September 23, 2004, 04:10:40 am »

I'm listening to Radio Paradise and they play something I like but haven't heard before.  A few minutes later, it happens again.

I know there are plugins that record the playing now info, but they overwrite it each time they refresh.  Is there any way I can record the info for each track I like so that I can review the list later?

PlayingNow's logging facility allows you to specify how many entries to keep so you could set it to a large value, e.g. a thousand.

Thanks - that would help, but I'd still have the problem of remembering which tracks I was interested in.  It could be days before I wanted to do anything with the list.  Maybe I can do something with a clipboard manager?

I could change PN to have a hotkey that writes out the playing info to a file when hit (like on demand logging).   So you could be in any application and hear a track you like, hit the hotkey and the info is written to a file for later examination.

Would that help you?

(Day dreaming mode on....)

What would be fun is to support the old Sony eMarker keychain. The service has been discontinued, but it would be cool to just click the button on your keychain when you hear a song you like and then when you connect it to your USB port, MC would consult the PN log and report back to the user what song was playing at that time.

See http://www.bricklin.com/emarker.htm for info...

(Day dreaming mode off... :-)  )
