I just upgraded to MC10 from MJ only to find the ripping speed is terrible - no more than 1.2x.   It worked great with MJ and other software.   Can you shed some light on this problem?

It may be a Windows problem.  Try a search for PIO here and at google.

Thanks for the quick response.   Why do you suspect Windows when both of the Plextors have performed flawlessly with every other ripping app., including MJ?   I even tried an old version of Audio Catalyst today just to check and the drive ripped off an entire CD in the time it took MC to do just one song.

Are u ripping your song in MP3 format? I had same problem a while back and found that the setting that I used was the reason why it was taking so long...

Thanks.  I am trying to rip a regular music cd (CDA) to MP3.   It's stupidly slow, yet with no other program, including Media Jukebox.

Anybody have any ideas?

Anyone have any further thoughts on my poor ripping speed?   It happended suddenly when I moved over to MC from MJ and does not seem to effect any other ripping software?   I am trying to rip regular music CDs to MP3 for playback in MC.

did you try using dif rip configs including custom?

some rip faster than others and you have yet stated what settings your using

I think a few experts recomend a custome setting

I prefer VBR, High, Advanced, High

I just tried your settings and see a very slight improvement to 1.5x.   But that's still way slower than MJ.

First thing... make sure you're using the latest MC 10... which is MC 10.0.173 (find it in the top post of this forum). It will be a lot easier to troubleshoot if you up to date.

Edit: Also, try completely uninstalling MC before installing the new version. Something may have gotten messed up when you upgraded, and a fresh install might fix it.

I'm seeing a similar very slow ripping speed in MC11 - MC10 works fine however.

I'm using MP3 CBR 128 at Max speed, secure setting.

Just a follow up.  I did a complete uninstall of MC 10.0.155 and upgraded to 10.0.173.   Now I am hitting 12x ripping which is much better than the 1.2x I was getting before.  

I don't know what exactly fixed it - but thanks for the help.  It worked.
