players.ini for MC v11?
« on: August 25, 2004, 01:13:26 pm »

The players.ini file that enables MC 10 and media keys on logitech keyboards is not compatible with the new version of MC. Does anyone have a solution?

Consider this a 'me too' message. I can't get it to work. :( My MC starts when you press the Play button, but pausing/stopping etc doesn't work.

I will have to "Me 3" you guys.  The keyboard media buttons on my logitech are behaving in an odd manner.  Sometimes play/pause work, sometimes not.  Sometimes I get the OSD green display, sometimes not.  Next Track never works, it skips rapidly through songs and I have to kill MC to get it to stop.  On the other hand, MMJB works perfectly so I am using that to listen to MP3s (which is really disappointing) until I find a fix.

Just figured out if you deinstall iTouch software, the logitech keyboard works perfectly with MC10.  I'll try MC11 in a few days, but right now I am enjoying pushing the Next Track and Previous Track buttons and actually having it work!  All the media buttons work (Next, Previous, Mute, Play/Pause, Stop, Volume).

Weird, eh?

Has anyone figured this one out yet? I'm currently not using MC11 because of this "error".. Using my keyboard as a remote control is very important to me, and it's easier to just use MC10.

Did you try uninstalling the Logitech software as described above?

Yes, that works to a certain point, but then other keys stops working, most importantly those on my mouse, so uninstalling the software won't work either..

Can you report this problem to Logitech?

Logitech response:

"I would like to inform you that the current version of SetPoint software does not support Media Center 11. The next version of SetPoint software may support Media Center 11."

>_<

The current version does not support Media Center 10!

I don't have the keyboard so I don't know; Is the keyboard programmable? If so, you can build your own commands using mjextman command lines. I built a similar capability as a menu in my taskbar to control MC.

If you received e-mail from them, let them know we'll provide a license and assist in testing.

From Logitech's EMEA support:
"I understand that you have contacted the developers of Media Center 11 and they have informed you that they would provide license and testing assistance to Logitech to include the support for Media Center 11 in the SetPoint software.

I thank you for your efforts and your feedback. I have forwarded the details to our technical department to have a look into. If possible, the support for Media Center 11 would be included in the next version of the SetPoint software."

Let's just hope they do:)

This is weird. I personally use a very basic (and old) compaq keyboard that comes with a few play/prev/next/stop/volume buttons and they all work very well without the need of any special drivers (just the typical M$ one). Have you guys tried to use a conventional driver?

Using the default driver solves the problem, but creates other ones, for exemple if you use a Logitech mouse. All the buttons reverts to their default setting. Also, my Media Pad doesn't show MSN messages with the drivers disabled.
