Maybe I am simply paranoid, but acquisitions always make me nervous.  Typically, if I work for an acquired company, I get laid off.  If I'm just a customer of an acquired company, I see the product given new graphics, an 80% update fee tacked on for the benefit of a reworked "About" box, and support dropped for the version I have.

A little help please
« Reply #3 on: October 17, 2004, 02:10:00 am »

I purchased MC 9 some time ago and liked it very much, so much so that I have  recommended it to quite a few people who have in turn purchased MC 10. My PC was stolen around 9 months ago and I have just recently replaced it. The fact that it took me almost a month to find a copy of 9.1 (it is not available on your website) was bad enough but to no longer have my old email address in your database so that I can't renew my licence now is about to much. Is it a j river practice to sell a product and then not support it beyond a certain time limit? I would greatly appreciate it if some one from your company would help me with this. I would like to continue using and promoting your products but it's kind of hard to promote something that isn't fully supported by the company that released it.

It Is 2 Versions Old, They Are Currently On MC11, Most companys need to drop support for old versions.

you are in luck however, J river has allowed MJ8 and MC9 users a Upgrade path to the latest version, you should take advantage of it before it is too late.

That also has nothing to do with this thread

I think allowing the upgrade is a great move and thank you for that. I am still in the same position however, your database doesn't recognize my old email address and therefore doesn't allow me to renew my license. I have succesfully changed my email and re-aquired my license a couple of times in the past due to system crashes etc and I don't recall needing a password to do it. If you would be kind enough, let's just assume I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed (not a big leap believe me) and walk me through the steps I need to take to get up and running with the MC 11 upgrade (I have MC 11 downloaded but not installed) without spending more money. I do know all of the email addresses that I used in the past and more to the point the address to which you last sent me a registration code (mblangbehn@hotmail.com). As I said before I don't recall ever needing a password to get a new reg code but I do recall pretty much every one I would have used since orriginally purchasing MC 9 if that will help. My appologies for using the wrong thread but this is what I got when I did a search in the interact forum for customer service so I just went with it. As far as finding a copy of MC 9 goes, you do have a link to it on your website but it comes up with a site not found message when I link to it, this is also the case with cnet, bestdownload.com and several other software websites. I had to use a p2p network to find it and even that was no small task. Thanks for the help.  :-X
