ot, don't park your car near an acorn tree
« on: October 24, 2004, 06:38:48 pm »

that's what I did this past weekend. talk about headaches.

all the acorns went inside the car and into the blower fan. when I turned it on, the whole car shook (worse than what my subs could do) and it was loud.

so I had to take the whole dash apart to take the fan out and clean it and this is what I saw:

acorns

and this is what my car looked like a few hours ago. it's now back to normal.

Here you have to make sure the sun roof isn't open while driving along 'cause the chestnuts will get ya, and if they don't a golf ball will!!! ;D

I once had a squirell knock a walnut off a tree and it cracked my windshield. After that I declared open season on all squirells. :P

Rich

hahaha,
I live opposite a forest

as you can see on the left of the photo there is an Oak tree which bombards the card parked there and actually dents some. I fitted an alarm on my girlfriends car a while back and had the shock sensor a little on the sensitive side, we woke up one morning and there was a Squirrel above it seemingly throwing nuts at it setting it off!
quiet amusing although it got me out of bed!

This reminds me of the morning after my wedding. I walked the car park in the hotel and watched the conker (=horse chestnut) trees dropping big spiky bombs on the expensive cars parked below. Not good for the bodywork, but fortunately none of those expensive cars were mine.

As to why I was walking the car park on the day after my wedding - its a long and not particularly interesting story. Im a happily married man though.

I don't think we have many natural oak trees here in Finland (only in some natural parks I think), but sometimes we can have a lot of snow on the roofs.

I was visiting a shop in the middle of Helsinki on a beautiful sunny winter day. My almost new car was parked in front of the shop.

When I came back there was about one meter of icy snow all over the car and a big dent in the roof of the car. Fortunately nobody was walking on the sidewalk when the heavy snow did that seven-floor drop.

The housing company was responsible for the damages and their insurance paid the car repair and painting. They should drop the snow down after every major snowfall before it gets too icy and heavy.
