Copying files to laptop
« on: October 28, 2004, 11:14:52 am »

Hi again--

I've just become a 2-pistol Pedro--laptop/desktop.

I would like to copy some of my music files from the dt to the lt. I'm sure there are many ways to do this.

I'd like to do it from MC in the dt so I can see the file properties, ratings, etc. to help decide which files to copy.

What is the best way to do this?

I'm running MC10 and XP on both systems.

With MC 11, you can 'synch' to a laptop (network share) just like you would to a handheld player.  This area is still in development though, so it may be a bit shaky for a while.

Matt, can you explain the 'network share?' I have the latest build of MC 11, but can't find anything in the menus or help files.  I have created a smartlist that contains everything in the audio library.  I'd like to be able to sync it to a network drive to have a backup on a separate HD on a separate machine.

Thanks

Since 11.0.112 you can go to tools / Options / Handheld and identify any drive and folder to be treated as a handheld device.  You can then synch it with the entire library or with selected playlists.
