not able to upgrade or purchase

I love this product but i've not been able to upgrade to version 10 from version 9. Instead I keep getting the message "failed to initiate Media Center purchase."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Install and Register V9
Install V 10 overtop
Turn off your firewall
Make sure you have Internet Explorer,

okay, I'm really lost. I uninstalled v10 but when I start media center up it says i'm using v10 and not the trial.
