With New Media Library How to run at Windows Startup?
« on: January 03, 2005, 12:10:53 pm »

Since Media Server is now "embedded" in MC, does MC have to be loaded now?  I would have liked to have seend Media Server as a Windows Service.  Can someone help me understand the logic, as I am sure it has been thought through considerably more than me.  Thanks, and MC11 is GREAT!  LovLibrary Brwoser, but SLOW!

Do a search here, there's a program called firedaemon or something that can do what you need...

I will take a look, but I really think this is something that should be "built-in" as it was in MC10.  Any chance?

Yes.  Nothing is set in stone yet with MC11.  For now, please find a work-around or use MC10.

You can also set MediaCenter to run at startup by:

1. Putting it in the Startup portion of the Start Menu

2. Setting that shortcut to run minimized

3. Setting the option in MC to minimize to the system tray

I find this works similarly to the way Media Server used to work. Only real difference is that I have to remember not to close MC when I'm done and instead just minimize it!
