Handheld problems in build 11.0.234
« on: April 08, 2005, 12:40:28 pm »

Made a Backup Folder on another Hard Disk and try to use the Handheld Player Action to make Backup Copies to another drive. When I drop ape files to the Drop area I get the message "File not Supported" for most files!

What does it mean? Is it a bug? Files have internal cover art and some have hypens in the name such as "Eternity's Glow".

Is is right to assume that above Action can also be used to make Backups on internal or external disk drives? Could never do any backup of even a few albums!

With respect to portables, build 234 will not close the action window progress at the end of a transfer automatically.  This will be fixed in the next build, but in the meantime, select cancel after the transfer to make the window close.

Jaguu,

Your request that, for assigned drivepaths, all filetypes will be allowed will be included in the next build.

2. Changed: Auto sync on connection of portable devices is enabled.

Can you confirm that this also works when syncing with playlists, not solely with the library?

3. Changed: Reset of Portable devices will clear all registry settings for Portables.

Not sure if it's due to this change, but when you set-up a new device the 'Delete unselected files during synchronization' option is selected by default. Although this is no big deal because this option seems to be broken again anyway, I think you want the option unselected by default, no?

Every time I try to "autosync" my player it crashes.  I tried resetting the device, mu computer and the portables in MC.
I have a Rio Karma.  Any info I can provide?

Thanks!

1. Fixed: Not all settings for Portables were being individualized correctly.

Does this mean I can sync two different iPods now and retain settings for each?

I don't think so. They would have made a bigger deal out of it  ;D

I created a log from MC and here are the last entries before the crash:

8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Start
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Open: H:\Mp3\Soundsystem Selection 2004 (Today's Biggest Ragga [Uk] Disc 1\20 Shake (What Ya Mama Gave Ya) - General Levy & Dr. Zeus-Bally Jagpal.wma
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Calling Internal_Open
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Open return value: 1
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Finish
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Internal_Close: Start
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Internal_Close: Finish
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Start
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Open: H:\MP3\Download\Songs In A Minor [ECD] [UK]\01 Piano & I.wma
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Calling Internal_Open
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Open return value: 1
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Open: Finish
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Internal_Close: Start
8:20:04 AM: Playback: WMAFileInfo::Internal_Close: Finish

There is nothing wrong with the las file.  I am converting them to wma files.  I tried turning this off and I had the same issue.
Any ideas?

auto-sync will sync tag changes but won't 'sync data' ([number plays] and [last played]) with the iPod. A manual does sync data though.

On a side note, syncing (auto or manual) is getting extremely slow. When I plug in my iPod, MC freezes for about 40 seconds, then an 'initializing portable' message pops up for about 10 seconds, then 'analyzing files' (about 7400) takes 1'20, then files are transfered (time varies depending on how many files needs to be transfered but the transfer rate is rather slow: about 4mb/sec at best).

I do not see this. After a reset, when a device is detected, 'Delete unselected ' is not checked.

Does it sync correctly if auto sync is off?  I do not have a Karma but cannot duplicate with a similar device.

No. Ipod has unique sync settings, but two iPods share the same settings at this time.

Fixed in the next build.

Is synching to a remote folder not working again as well as the above?

It's not working for me.

I can manually "sent do" my Rio Karma just fine.  It appears to be an issue with the auto sync.

AHBrown41,

Can you initiate a sync from the AW correctly?

TXGary,

What zen? The micro? If so, you most likely do not have the MTP firmware installed. I must add handling of both the MTP and non MTP mirco firmware.

danrien,

Please take note of the threads that mention that until Monday's build, the AW will not close after the sync as it should.  Please try again with Monday's build as I think it is related to your crash.

I am also experiencing problems w/234 and my Creative Nomad Zen Xtra. MC crashes on connection with the handheld. I reverted back to 232 and eveything is fine. I tried several different  settings changes with no change in the result.
