iPod or iRiver and connectivity
« on: May 20, 2005, 07:15:49 am »

Is there someone who owns an iPod and an iRiver.

I have an iRiver iHP-140 and recently bought an iPod Photo 60GB. So far the sound quality and feautures/options of the iRiver are much better. Maybe also because of using Ogg Vorbis. Ipod is superior in ergonomics and control.

The connectivity through MC with the iPod is much better then with iHP-140. There are always problems with uploading songs to my iHP-140. Handling the iPod is much easier. Only at this moment almost al songs uploaded to the iPod are reduced to 1 second songs. Strange bug???

Would like to know if there are more differences or just things to know.

Do they only play for 1 second? Does MC report them as 1 second in duration?

Hi Steve,

Haven't used MC for a long time because I had stability problems with the program. The latest builds are more stable! That's why I'm back on track.

IHP-140
Troublesome to get the right names on the display, still can't get playlists to work, don't see any Ogg Vorbis anymore, updating the database is not flawless, no interaction between MC and Moodlogic etc, etc...

1 second music on iPod
My iPod reports "-0:01" as the total songtime. Uploaded 3641 songs with the latest builds. I estimate that about 10 percent is transferred properly. When played it plays for about a second.

I bought the iPod last week.  After connecting I could upload and use playlists without any hassle.  With the iRiver feel that the MC support is merely transferring converted files from one location to the other.  Full support would be if the iRiver database would be used. Until now I can't get it to work properly.

Marsies,

Can you email me one of the files that is playing for 1 second?

steve @ jriver.com

In regards to the 140, for seamless integration, we will need to pick one of these up.

A song is on its way, and by the time you read this it is there  :)

It plays normal on the PC, only on the iPod it's weird.
