Best speakers under $200?
« on: October 09, 2002, 04:31:35 pm »

Anyone know of some good 4.1 or 5.1 speakers under 200? i know Klipsch sells some excellent 4.1s that have slight physical defects for 150, but i was wondering if there are any other options?

I think the ones from Logitech sound pretty good.  They are 4.1.

Logitech's THX certified Z560 4.1 surround sound system is at Newegg for $136 right now.  They rate pretty high.

The Klipsch are great.  I just got a set of Klipsch refurbs, the 2.1 set, and I'll be damned if I can find any dents, dings or blemishes on them.  They look and sound new.

No offence from me either, but gimme a break! Buy an old, used pair or two of stereo speakers, and they'll sound a heck of a lot better than any crummy computer speakers!  8)

One consideration is that you can get a lot more performance from $200 headphones than you can from $200 speakers.

I'd way recommend Sennheiser 600's or 580's.  I absolutely love 'em.
