Advanced expressions in fields
« on: June 11, 2005, 12:04:36 am »

Is it possible to use advanced expressions when creating new library fields? I might be completely dense, but I've only managed to get simple [Artist] - [Year] style fields to work in calculated fields... any other expressions show up as a string.

What I want to do: If [Category] = Film , [Title] = [Film] - [Name]
Otherwise,                 [Title] = [Artist] - [Name]

Any suggestions?

I don't think you can use expressions in field names.  Check out the expressions help page, which you can find through the temporary instructions sticky at the top of the board...

I agree with darichman - it would be tremedously helpful to be able to use this in fieldnames,.

I have tried it but it does not seem to do so.  Being able to do it would give much more flexibility for example in dconfiguring the display of title information depending on Genre etc...

JRiver team, could you give it some consideration?
