iPod trying to synch cda files
« on: June 14, 2005, 10:10:59 am »

Ipod problem:

When I rip cds I tag them before ripping. One thing i do is to set a field called "ipod" to "yes". Then I make my master smartlist changing this "ipod" field in the files in my library.

However, now when i try to synch, the handhelds window also tries to synch the .cda files, and so undoubtably there is a "not enough space" error, because I have always tagged those files to yes.

Please tell the synch operation to only use files in the main database, not the removable one.

Cheers,
Bri

Bri,

Are you using 'Sync All files' or specific playlist/smarlists?

I am using a specific smartist and havent changed it for months, but suddenly with the last couple of builds, files from the cd database get included in the the smartlist. I have modified for now with an extra rule (exclude removable media files).

Could you post what the rule was before the change you added to get it to work the way you want?

This was the rule as it has been for months:

[Ipod]=[yes] ~sort=random [Media Type]=[Audio]

And this is what it is now, to allow synching to work:
[Ipod]=[yes] ~sort=random [Media Type]=[Audio] -[Removable]==1

Also, I just noticed that in my recently imported playlist, there are lots of files that i have deleted from the library (ie, disconnected files, and files that are present on the drive but not imported). I dont seem to remember MC populating the list like this in the past. But I could be wrong.
