MOVED: Cover Art Quick Find in File not working (dcwebman)
« on: June 18, 2005, 12:31:42 pm »

Not sure what build this started but it happens in 296. I have the Image File as one of my columns in a view. My cover art is stored in a cover art folder and is specified that way in the options. Before the "near file" saving changes came into place, I also copied manually each one of the cover art files into their respective "near file" locations. This is a duplicate of the images but provided a backup too. Now that the background is set, here's what I discovered today.

I noticed that the Image File column in some files didn't have the cover art folder name. My assumption was that it must have somehow put the image that was in the "near file" location. I removed the image from the tags. Remember that I have the file location for cover art set separately. I did a "Quick Find in File / Cover Art Directory" assuming it would fine the image that was in the cover art folder. Instead it pulled the one "near file". I removed the image again from the tag and in Windows Explorer renamed the "near file" image to something different than the "artist - album" standard. Did the Quick Find and it still found the file. Removed the image from the tag again and this time renamed the file extension of the "near file" to jpgwers. Did the Quick Find and it still found it. This time I moved the file out of the "near file" location and did the Quick Find. It didn't find anything. I had to eventually do the Add From File in order to get the cover art folder image assigned.

So I see three bugs here:
1. The Quick Find doesn't find images in the cover art location specified in the options.
2. The Quick Find doesn't find images in the "artist - album" format like in the renamed file example.
3. The Quick Find doesn't find valid images like in the "jpgwers" file extension.

dcwebman,

MC is attempting, but failing to find the image file in your cover art directory.

Can you verify that the cover art path where the cover art file exists is the same path specified in options (or is one 'C:\Program Files\...' and the other 'C:\Documents and Settings\...')?

Also, does the image filename in your cover art directory conform to the [Artist] - [Album].jpg naming convention?

because it with me also does not function, although the jpg files in the folder find.  thus can't function? thus looks with me

D:\albums\interpret\
01 - artist - Are You Feelin' Meh.mp3
02 - artist - Messed Up.mp3
03 - artist - Rock The Boat.mp3
04 - artist - Rock The Boat.mp3
Back.jpg
Front.jpg

has to be designated jpg exactly like the mp3?

In my case I have exactly the same file in my cover art folder as I do near the MP3, artist - album.jpg. My cover art folder is in the same location as my songs, for example d:\mp3\coverart and the songs are in d:\mp3\artist\album.

But as I just found  out in 298 at least on one system, it seems to work now. I will try on my other system tonight to see if it works there now.
