Hey all,

There's a brand spanking new Xbox 360 sitting wrapped under the Christmas tree in the front room right now.  After my son unwraps it on Christmas and takes it upstairs to the Xbox room to play, I'd like to start sending audio and pictures to it.  Since there isn't any (yet) MC streaming support, I'm forced to consider Windows Media Connect as a temporary work around.

Is there any known conflict between simultaneously running Windows Media Connect and MC's TiVo and UPnP Servers?

Shouldn't be as long as they are all configured on different ports.

Well then.

I'll just load it and let it discover my .mp3 and .jpg files and see what happens.  Say a prayer that this M$ product doesn't "eat" my library.

Just look for any settings that would indicate that it's allowed to 'organize' or 'move' files and disable them.
Point it at your media folder only after examining the other config settings.

FWIW, I've got Media Connect and MC running on the same PC on my network, with no conflicts and no special settings.  The device at the other end - a Streamium in my case - finds them both.

Media Connect has virtually no options - it's not intended for media management and barely allows you to choose the folders to be scanned. (That will be its strength for many people - it is, quite literally, a no-brainer. There will be a fair number of people who discover their photos or their tunes on the TV screen with no idea how they got there.)

But it is pure hell to browse thu a big collection of images or music with Media Connect. I might consider an XBox 360 some day, but only if MC can supply the library . . .
