Image File
« on: November 28, 2005, 07:31:30 pm »

Why is it that MC 11 always creates a file for the Image File (Cover Art)?

I want a way to save my cover art always in the mp3/wma file and not as a separate file.
It seems that if I paste it from the clipboard it creates a file in the image file directory and also puts it in the file, it will only switch to "Inside File" if I delete the image file from the directory.

Thanks.

By design, an image wll also be in both places.  This provides a fallback for file types that don't support internal images. (and also fits more nicely with the background thread tagging engine)

However, if you select "Store inside tags", MC should switch to "Inside File" as soon as you add the image and tag writing finishes.  Let us know if this isn't what you see using the latest MC 11 or 11.1.

Thanks.

Yes that does seem to be the case.

One other thing I noticed is that when I select all my audio files, eventhough all have the image file stored in the file, when I look at the tag info it says "<varies>" - is that a bug or is it also by design?

I need a way to verify that all are stored in the file without having to go through all my files. Any way to do that?

Thanks.

It shouldn't say <varies> unless there are differences.  Try picking two files with internal art to verify.

Show the "Image" column (Customize Current View) and sort by it to quickly see files without internal art.
