This probably counts towards a MC12 request, but that threads wondered
off deep into the depths of interact.

Currently tags for Video files are identical to those for Audio,
which is a bit of a pain when trying to label Series and Episode Numbers.
I'm not sure exactly what other tags Video deserves but I'm sure
there must be some!

Any thoughts?
The Composer tag doesn't seem to useful when I'm tagging episodes of Lost  :)
(Which isn't to say Video can't be Audio!)

I agree that having seperate 'tagging databases' for Audio, Image and Video would make my MC usage much more pleasant.

Having things like dates (default album for podcasts) show up in the album field for music increases the list WAY too much.  Or landscape in the genre of music.

Hopefully others would like to see these 'databases' seperated for music, image and videos.

When I first started to store video files within MC, I tried setting up new fields for video with designations like Series, Network, Season and Episode Number.  However, I found that Playing Now made it difficult to use them properly.  I had to create an entirely different view scheme for Playing Now which, while easy, got to be a bit of a pain if I switched between music and video a lot.  That's says nothing for the times when you might want to have audio and video playing one after the other.

In the end, I just ended up loading the video information into audio tags, fudging the meanings a bit.  Track numbers became a dual season/series count and episode number, Album became the name of the series, Name became the title of the episode and Artist (the biggest stretch) became the Network.  Dates work as they always have.  Not sure if that helps, but I've found it to be a compromise that worked out for me.

Actually it'd be good if we could organise tags/fields more effectively. We can already assign fields to diferent categories (general, extended, calculated etc). It would be absolutely fantastic if we could create our own tag groups (eg Video) to better arrange the fields we use most frequently...

Hello,

Yes I agree their should be separate tags for video/DVD. I would prefer tags like "Director", "Actor1" "Actor2" ' "Actor5,  Country/Language etc.

Also the handling of video/dvd files should be more handy. Like importing the cover like the audio style.

Yes, I fully support this.

I think MC12 should make an effort to handle different media types in different data bases with different tags specific to their type.

I also would like to see some kind of virtual media type, example: videos could be a media type tv-series or movie. The root media type would be video, but the tagging scheme would be totally different. Same for images, I have different type of images such as artwork, pictures, collections of very specific images etc.
