Recovering tags for CUE files
« on: March 05, 2006, 12:24:59 pm »

Hi,

today I mentioned what more then 2000 songs in the DB has lost their tag "Name". I've used Fill tags from files option, but there are some tracks (around 100) what don't have ID3 tags. That's CUE files. Importing that CUE files into MC gives no effort. MC thinks it's already in DB.

What shoul it be? How can I fix that files?

What is your MC version?

If you don't have manually made library backup files you may have an automatically generated backup file if you are using a recent MC11.1 build.

The automatic backup files are located in "C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Library Backups"

If you have made a lot of changes after the last backup you may want to import only the cue track information. Here is how you can do it:

1. First make a new backup of your current library. (File > Library > Backup Library)

2. Make a new empty library with Library Manager and restore the last automatic backup that contains the correct cue track info. In that restored library make a playlist of the cue files and export the list in MPL format. An MPL playlist includes all library fields.

3. Change back to your regular library and delete the cue tracks from it.

4. Import the MPL playlist.
