click behavior setup a bit confusing...
« on: March 23, 2006, 08:01:49 pm »

Hi!
Tools>Options>General>Behavior. I believe the logic behind this one is abit confusing. I didn't think too much about it until a couple of builds ago, since it seemed to have changed. I don't know what you lot think, but after an extensive test of the behaviors, I still get a bit confused, especially by the italic part below:

Double-click: Replace PN (single):
Double-clicking single file: Replaces all files in PN, adds clicked file
Double-clicking playlist: Replaces all files in PN, adds playlist

Double-click: Replace PN (all):
Double-clicking single file: Replaces all files in PN, add all files
Double-clicking playlist: Replaces all files in PN, adds playlist

Double-click: Add to PN (to end):
Double-clicking single file: Adds clicked file at the end of PN
Double-clicking playlist: Replaces all files in PN, adds playlist

Double-click: Add to PN (play now):
Double-clicking single file: Adds clicked file to PN, keeps files in PN
Double-clicking playlist: adds playlist, keeps files in PN

Double-click: Add to PN (play next):
Double-clicking single file: Adds clicked file to PN, keeps files in PN
Double-clicking playlist: adds playlist, keeps files in PN

Can't this be more intuitive? It would be great...

The only italics I see are about "Double-click: Add to PN (to end)"

However, this seems to do the expected thing as I'm testing it.

Could you give a more specific example of what isn't working like you expect?  Thanks.

Let's see here...

Double-click: Add to PN (to end):
Double-clicking single file: Adds clicked file at the end of PN
Double-clicking playlist: Replaces all files in PN, adds playlist

So, all options either add or replace, but this one does both.

But no sweat, it isn't that a big deal for me, I use right-click > Send To > Play > [Various options] close to always, the request to clean this up was for my not so interested girlfriend or friends at parties who continually ruin nicely set up PN by double-clicking. The DC option is just not that intuitive to set up.

I'd rather see some effort in fixing the date issue + those LS things I'm currently wining (whining?) about.

Thanks Matt!

I can't get it to replace PN when I have double-click set to Add to PN (to end).

Could you give an exact step-by-step?  Thanks.

You're absolutely right! I can't reproduce it anymore. When I wrote the post, I double-checked to get it right...could it be that I used an earlier version?

Anyway. It's working like a charm...now I only going to figure out how to set it up so d-c one file adds and multiple files replace...

Thanks again!

Why ?

I use MC the same way, right-click->Send->PN
