Media Server and OGGs
« on: September 20, 2002, 11:33:44 am »

OK, I've got the media server from MJ 8.0.372 running on my home machine.  That machine is connected to a DLINK Broadband rounter and then out to the internet over a 256Kbit/s Cable uplink.  I've got the media server's port routed on the DLINK to the machines internal ip.

At work, we have a secondary 768Kbit/s Cable connection.  I started up MJ on my work machine and successfully connected to my home media server.

I'm trying to figure out if this network setup is actually fast enough to stream music successfully, so I encoded a single song at OGG Quality -1,-.5,0,.5, and 1 to see how things fared.  I can play the Q-1 song just fine, though it takes FOREVER to start, but when I try to switch to the Q-0.5 song, the MJ display changes to buffering and stops responding (no network traffic either)...  I have to kill it via task manager to get rid of it...

Am I doing something wrong?
