Searching for Rolling Stones isn't right in MC11.1.175
« on: April 23, 2006, 05:12:01 pm »

I don't know if this is a bug or just the way MC does it, but when I type in the search field say 'rolling stones', and then locate that the rolling stones tiles and then select albums from that tiles view, other artists albums show up as well.

I would hope MC is not supposed to work this way?

Also why does the search reset every time I select a new field from the main drop down?  Is there a way to change this?

Do the other artists have "Rolling" or "Stones" anywhere in the artist, album, or track?

I am seeing the clash, the yardbirds, sonny and cher, beatles, and buddy holly albums listed.

None of them have rolling or stones in the artist album or track.  It's possible it could be in the bio or something.  I can see how this would work for a general search, but when selecting the actual 'rolling stones' artist tile, these shouldn't show up.

Edit:

If I do an artist=Rolling stones with 0 spacing between the '=', then yes only rolling stones albums pull up.  But this is a bit more tedious, and shouldn't if I then select the rolling stones tile, only those albums should show up for that artist?

It's by design that search and tile filters don't get applied together.

Pick one approach:

1) Find what you need with search

or

2) Pick "Artists", tap "R" (alphabet on screen if enabled or keyboard button), and get the Stones

OK, well now I know. :)

I personally think that the search and browsing engines should let themselves do their own thing how they normally do them (no changes in logic), and let the user decide what to do next.

FYI - The thumbnail slider slightly moves every time I click on it even without moving the mouse, plus the 'list ratio' changes as you move the slider, making it difficult to gauge what size the thumbnails shoulde be until after you scroll back up to the top of the list.
