Any chance on a patch to fix CD eject problem after burning?
« on: September 17, 2002, 11:30:54 am »

I was just wondering if there was any plan for a patch to fix the problem with certain CD writers in which after burning a CD you have to restart the computer to eject it.  At least couple of people with new Dell computers seem to have this problem, and since Dell is a rather mainstream brand, it would be nice if this could be addressed.  I can get around this by checking "use generic driver" in the options menu but I would prefer if some other fix were in the works.   Any word on this JimH or JohnT?

Could this be a driver problem?

Joe777

get your self a paper clip, and push it thru that small hole on the cd drive.

That will open the door.

but as JimH said something is wrong, OS, Drivers or even Firmware

Firmware updates will basicly load the software to the cd drive and it is stored in the chips in the drive it's self. the drivers help interface it with programs and the OS.

It seems your Computer is too fast send it to me and I will send you something a bit slower.

I've updated everything I could, even MJ, with no luck.  An older version of MJ (version 7 I think) did not have a problem.   Any other advice?

Drives are fairly cheap.

Did you try switching to or from generic?

We've exhausted the possibilities, I think.  You might try Dell.

Same thing happened to me, at home and at work. Used to work, now it doesn't. And, at work, after burning is done, I can push the eject button and get the cd out, but if I put it back in while MJ is still going, it hangs with "Insert disk into drive E" until I quit MJ. MJ seems to be "hanging on" to the drive somehow. Recently upgraded at home from 98 to 2K. Maybe going to try installing older versions of MJ, see if it works.
