starting over, sobering realisation!
« on: June 28, 2006, 04:23:59 am »

through 11, then 11.1, I knew I'd put in quite a lot of work bending MC this way, then that way, getting everything 'just so'.

The majority of it was of the 'one time only' marathon sessions kind of thing, and after that, I just treat as part of "My MC", know what I mean?

It wasn't untill five minutes ago that I realised just how far off the beaten track I'd actually wandered. If I were to sit down now and try to get back where I was from scratch, I'd not be there inside of seven days.

It's OK though, in anticipation of the fact, I laid down a few shortcuts to get me there faster, but still, kind of took me by surprise just how far off 'default' I'd wandered.

The freedom to do that is a nice thing to have, don't you think?

It's why I use MC, not WMP or anything else.

I've had some problem explaining to people in
the past why MC is so good.  However the way
I've currently got it configured for my video, with
different views, and extended tags people
immediatly go 'Wow!' where do I get it?!

It's got quite a lot of things that need sorting out still,
and in some areas theres still quite a few thunderstorm graphics
that need replacing.

Hope to have it in at least beta form in a month.  :)

Same here...

I was planning yesterday to start my library from scratch for MC12, maintaining two separate libraries until MC12 got stable enough that I feel comfortable using it on my HTPC (and more importantly can explain it permanently to my wife).  I got home last night and started work...

I never actually got to the point of installing MC12 last night (but today no doubt).

It's going to be a long week.  (At least after fighting with it, I decided that I'm not going to start completely from scratch, but still...)

Yes, starting from scratch was(is) a pain.
But rewarding in its own way. You gotta remember why you did this or that. How you did it.
Lots of things here were added to earlier ideas.
With time, you know a better way but never do it because "it works".

Absolutely, which is why I was planning to start over.  That, and this weirdness.  Now, I'm not so sure.  I'm thinking that I might import my old MC11.1 library (a copy of course) into MC12, and then create a new blank one and start the process while still being able to test and use the new version.

My biggest problem was that I was so excited to "get in there" and start playing with it, that I didn't want my first week to be filled with recreating the wheel!   ::)

Sometimes it nice to see it in its natural state.
In fact, I have done very little tweaking yet. I kinda like it the way it is for now.
