Just a reminder to the users of KingSparta's DataMaster.  ;D

Please upload your information.  The more we upload the better it will be for everyone.

For those who have not tried this plug-in, you should take a look at it. 8)

Yes, Kingsparta has given us an excellent tool.  When you do your lyrics, get what you can from datamaster.  Get the rest using lyrics editor or any of other favorites.  Then upload those to datamaster.

I am wondering what other fields are getting uploaded.

Like date, and how people are handling the album date vs song date on compilation albums.  Many of the compilations have newer dates which you want to keep.  Having a field for song release would be handy especially with datamaster to help populate it.  With the special function provided by mc for the date field you would not want to muck with that.

There is a tab to display all the fields on the server.

Note that all field chrs are lowercase, and the spaces, and all non A-Z, and 0-9 chrs are removed like "\" "/" "-" etc...

So A User Created Field Of

"my mc custom field" Is The Same As "mymccustomfield" That Would be On the Server.

Some Data Should Not Be Played With And One Of Them Is Dates. MC Saves The Dates Based On (I think) 1900 + or - Days Of the Years From 1900. That Information Has Not Been Disclosed By JRiver.

I'm using Datamaster but I have some questions (if you guys don't mind)...

1.  How do I know what (if anything) is being written to my tags?  I see it uploading my tag data but I can't tell what it's getting from other users.

2.  Is there any way to see what has been uploaded by other users?  I'd like to know how different users tag their stuff before I accept their tags

3.  Is there a list of users?

4.  Are we "rewarded" in any way for submitting stuff?  It might be fun to give Datamaster users a score based upon how much data they upload.

5.  Is background uploading/downloading a possibility down the road?  The process can take quite some time and it would be nice to be able to do other things while Datamaster is "working".  I tried viewing my 'Playing Now' files while Datamaster was working but it stopped the process.

Does It Say It Is Downloading?

If Yes And Your Using Batch Mode The Remote Text Box Will Fill, If it Finds Anything You Do Not Already Have. That Then Will Transfer That Data To The Upper Text Box And Apply It To Your Tag (If It Is Empty)

You Can Always Click On Always Download, But For Speed And In Batch Mode There Is No Point In Downloading Data If That Field Already Has Data.

In Manual Mode It Will Always Fill The Remote Text Box If It Finds Anything.

In Batch Mode It Is More Of A Blink But You Can See Other Users Who Have Data.

In Manual Mode You Can View Others Data If It Exists For That File\Artist Etc...

3.  Is there a list of users?

There Is A List Of Users Who Have Uploaded There Profile\Comments.

The Other Users Do Not Need To Upload Anything If They Do Not Wish To.

Well Yes Turn The Option To Always On, That Will Allow The Plug-in To Work, But If You Change The Playing Now Play List In Anyway It May Abort The Operation To Make Sure Your Not Tagging The Wrong File.

There Is A Limitation With The FTP Control So If There Is A Comm Error It May Tie Up Media Center Until It Times Out.

It May Work Better If I Allowed It To Use A PlayList, Never Messed With That So I Am Not Sure.

The reward for contributing is other people benefit from a richer database.  If they benefit, they will contribute as a way to keep the cycle going.  It's a circle that comes back to you for your benefit.

Oh, I agree.  I just think it would be cool to see that user XYZ has uploaded data for 5,000 songs and 600 albums or something like that.  Might be fun.

I don't dis-agree with you.  The biggest contributor is KingSparta.  Not only has he written this great plug-in, he has also contributed over 350,000 lyrics.  Amazing....
