View Scheme Editing Changes

12. NEW: View scheme editing can be done "in-place" so you can quickly change the panes by clicking on the pane headers. (EXPERIMENTAL -- MAY NOT REMAIN)
1st impressions are good, though I must say, those little arrows on the pane headers, ya gotta lose 'em, they's just plain ugly. If they're needed to encourage a click, perhaps they could fade in on mouse over?

12. NEW: View scheme editing can be done "in-place" so you can quickly change the panes by clicking on the pane headers. (EXPERIMENTAL --A HUGE SUCCESS)

I think this is a great step forward in the annals of digital audio.  (Is "annals" the right word?  I'm afraid it might have something to do with "stinting".)

At any rate, I don't see any down side to this, it is nimble as all heck to use, easy to figure out and yet amazingly powerfu.  Another homerun, guys!

I like it!!! Including the small arrows.
I would like to add 2 options: move left, move right.

i agree. first impression is good but those arrows. i like them when they have a function and show something, like the ones in the tree. but these are plane stupid, i clicked several times on them to see if i was missing something. if i could turn the sorting around or something like that.

i just thought that it is maybe a good idea to let the menu pop-up on right mouse click only.

The arrows work, but I think they need to be made more clear that a dropdown menu is coming rather than changing the sorting.

Going against GUI standards is a Bad Thing (tm).

For one thing the arrows are meaningless. The menu appears whether you left or right click, and whether you click on the arrow or not. Plus, arrows on list headers are used to indicate sorting. So either get rid of the arrows, or go with something that's closer to what you're trying to do here. Like make the menu ONLY appear with a right click, or move the arrow to the far right of each pane, and seperate it with a vertical line to give it more of a button-like appearence. Or something like that.

First impression is that the 'add pane to left/to right', should instantly shoot out a menu for the column you want it to be rather than then having to choose the column type after it is created..  That would be easy.

Now that there is a menu, why not add sorting options for each pane?

The idea currently seems most useful if you want to change the columns...to something else. Instead of the usual edit view scheme, then go to to step2 and change there.

So once your viewscheme is setup, how often do you change column titles or move them left or right ?

Not too often in my experience.

This GUI idea seems better with functionality that is often used wrt to the panes. Maybe with on-demand functions like sorting or sub-totals etc in the panes with a provision to make them sticky for certain columns in viewschemes.

It's still not yet possible to change the item order in the panes.

On top of the sorting possibilities (that would be huge), why not allow for dragging and dropping of panes to re-order them, just like the list columns below?
