I notice anytime I update file properties MJ creates an v2 tag.  I'd rather just deal with v1.  Anyway to disable the vs tag creation?

I Think So, But I Don't Remember How In MJ8 (I Forget)

Look For Plug-in manager and see if under that there is encoders for mp3, there is a setting you should be able to turn off ID3v2

But it is better to use Id3v2 tags so they do not get cut off since there is a 30 chr limit on the length.

Thanks....Didn't find anything in plug-in manager.  Do you know of any downside (performance-wise) to having both v1 and v2 in the file?  I had heard that v2 tags may slow searching etc. in large collections.  I haven't needed any more than what v1 tags offer (title, artist, album, comment, year, genre, track).

I've been using MJ 7.2 for years now and the reason I'm thinking of going to 8 is I haven't been able to find a way to search on the "year" field with MJ 7.2.
