MC hoses my ipod
« on: January 20, 2007, 09:54:43 pm »

OK, here's the scoop:

60GB video ipod
12.151 beta

Going overseas for 2 weeks, so I was cleaning off the ipod to put all new tv shows and music on it.

Start out with 12.147.  Start having problems moving 40-50GB of music, system locks up.  Ipod shows ~20GB of space taken up, but no songs.  MC shows space taken up but no songs.

install 12.151

Choose initialize ipod figuring I will just start over.

Load up 1GB of music. Everything works fine.

Load some tv shows.  MC show the TV shows under video.  The ipod doesn't see them.  I go to drag some more over (older shows that I have watched on the ipod before).  The loading goes from 0% to 25% instantly, then moves up in 1% or 2% increments until it hits ~49%.  then it stops, like it was completed, but the shows still aren't visible.

Please, please, please, don't make me load itunes.  I leave very soon, I need to get this filled.

Here's my config (back at 12.147):

Problem solved.  MC has a bug that prevents anything from showing up if it has a media sub type.  If you make it blank it shows up under movies.

Also, the entire show transferred, despite the wacky progress bar.  But see my other post on weirdness around the time indicator at the bottom - definitely caused by MC, not the media because I tried the same file and it worked fine in itunes.
