It should not take that long.

In general, you should install WinTV application along with drivers. The main reason is decoders. I believe decoders are only installed with the application (not sure if it is the case for this particular device, but it is true for most other devices). If you have other decoders that you think might work, try selecting them before attempting to scan. Try all combination of audio and video decoders in the lists.

Please send me a log file if the problem is not solved. yaobing at jriver dot com

where is the log file Yaobing?

Help -> Logging ...

Check "Output to a log file" under "Logging Options", and make sure "TV" and "Playback" are checked under "Type of events to log".

After doing that, run TV scanning. Let it run a while (ten minutes max). Stop scanning. Go back to Help -> Logging ... and click "Click to email log files" link.

Your device does not respond to ScanUp() call. A "channel tuned" event never comes. That is why you had to wait for so long without any result.

At the beginning the program tried to tune to channel 57-1 and seemed to be successful at that. Was that channel manually added? Are you able to play that channel?

Maybe your original scan did pick up something. This is what I found in your log file:

Physical channel: 53, Major channel: 57, Minor channel: 1

Yes, for testing, maually enter something like
Physical channel: 53, Major channel: 57, Minor channel: 1
or other channels you know exist. Then try to play them.
