How to Manage one MC setup from Multiple Logons?
« on: March 03, 2007, 01:09:28 am »

Can I have ONE Library, Options, Filter Selections, etc etc used by MC regardless of which logon is being used on my PC?  Eg I have a Vista box with Three logons (Mum & Dad, Kid 1, Kid 2) and all the media backed up from my HTPC to one common drive that all users can access.  All three can run MC after I've installed it but I have to manage MC from EACH logon seperatly (a great feature if you want each users to have their own views, customisation etc etc).  I know I could backup my Library from my logon then restore it in each of the Kids but I presume there is any easier way.  Any ideas?

Thanks

You can do this with my settings saving scripts.  In Windows XP Pro, simply set the "saving" script up to run at logoff, and the setting "restoring" script to run at logon.  You can do this via the Group Policy editor with relative ease.

There's probably a way to run a script at logoff in XP home, but I'm not sure how.  A description of using the Group Policy editor in XP Pro: http://www.theeldergeek.com/gp05.htm  It's easy to set a Logon and Logoff script to execute.
