Server Buffering Problem
« on: August 28, 2002, 10:05:44 am »

I am having a minor issue with a buffering problem in MJ when playing tracks on the "client" end.  Prior to playing the track MJ display that it's buffering and then the track begins.  Then 2-3 seconds into playing the track MJ has to re-buffer.  Once it has rebuffered, MJ is able to play the rest of track through without any further buffering problems.  This happens for every track I try to play.  I'm playing track that were ripped at 128Kbps, as I've found this to be the maximum my server can handle uploading. I'm using MJ 8.0.348.  Any suggestions?

What's the upstream connection speed from the server to the internet, both theoretical and actual?

I'm not sure what the theoretical is I would have to double check it at home, but the MJ server shows an average upload rate for all completed tracks at 130Kbps or higher in it's log.

Try ripping a CD to a lower bit rate to see if it helps.  If it does, it's the connection speed that's a problem.

Check your settings->options->playback and then the output settings.
Have you tried more skip resistant?
