Re: Track# format for vinyl rips

The Track # field is always numeric. This is a common standard.

I have used the Disc # field, the Comment field and a custom field, CD Track #.

I created my CD Track # field for storing the original CD track numbers because I renumber my multi-disc CD rips to have continous numbering (this is useful with other software or hardware players if they don't support disc numbers). I could change the name of this field to Disc Track # or Original Track # so that it would look nicer with vinyl albums, but I have not bothered to do that.

Here's an example:

You can create your own custom fields and make them fit to your preferred filing system.

In this old thread I explained how I renumber my multiple artists CDs:

I use the Rename Files From Properties, Move/Copy Fields and Fill Track Numbers From List Order tools when I customize the file names and numbering.

Edit: Starting from MC11.1 the ID3v2.3 TPOS field has been used for disc numbers in MP3 tags, as requested in that thread.
