Sometimes, when I do stuff that may take a lot of resources for a few seconds, like changing anything in the setup of an ATI card (ATI drivers can create massive ressource spikes) I have stuttering or even repeating of a half a second or so of the same sound (like the singer singing "hello-hello-hello, is it me you're looking for?" (purely an example that came to me, I don't normally listen to Lionel Richie...)). Is it possible to create an "insurance" against those? I have tried increasing the buffer, but that doesn't do anything in that case.

MC does pretty much everything it can to avoid skipping.  If it still skips even after increasing buffering, it may be a hardware level freeze where nothing we do would make a difference.

Aha. That wouldn't surprise me, since the mouse will be rather unmoveable for the same time. Does that mean hardware level?
