Create playlists to be synched w/o iPod being connected?
« on: June 11, 2007, 06:03:57 pm »

Is it possible to view/modify the options for a handheld device without it being connected? Specifically, I'd like to prepare playlists to be synched when I don't have my iPod connected.

Basically, can it be "unhidden" when it's not connected?

You have to connect the device because MC doesn't know what options to show until it loads the device and gets information from it.

Can playlists have tags? That way I could add a custom tag to a playlist called Ipod. Then I could create a Smartlist to look for playlists tagged with "ipod" to sync to the Ipod. Then sync the Ipod to the smartlist.

Take a look at this post: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=38669.msg263815#msg263815

I checked out that post. The biggest and most important drawback is that if I add new playlists to the view, the playlists still need to be individually checked off in the iPod options dialog box in order for them to be synched. I can't check off the playlists w/o the iPod attached. Which is exactly what I'm trying to get around.  :(

Any suggestions from J.R. ?

You'll have to check new playlists.

However, if you keep them in a playlist group, this should just be one click on the group's checkbox.

Thanks!
New feature option? "Auto select playlists when added to group"?  ;D
