ATSC/FM tuner recommendation?
« on: October 16, 2007, 02:23:35 pm »

I'm looking for a USB (PCI acceptable though) device that tunes in:

ATSC (OTA and 121 channel cable)
FM stereo

Don't really need functioning time-shift PVR functionality.  Just a tuner that functions with MC would be nice.

Oh, and it would be really nice if 2-3 of these devices could co-exist on the same hardware/OS platform with MC.

I'm staring real hard at the ATI TV Wonder 650 USB and the SiliconDust HDHomeRun.  Comments?

And thanks!

I hope other users who tried these can provide some comments. We have not tried either of these.

We have tested an older ATI device, HDTV Wonder, that works well. Therefore I would think TV Wonder 650 USB should work too.

I wonder if you could start a 'hardware fund' that people can contribute to.

Make a wish list of a/v hardware you want to test and get working with MC and set up a paypal link for users who want to help out.

Not that ATSC cards are all that expensive (say around $150- each) but if you guys could end up with a new card from time to time it would likely save a lot of RMA and wasted shipping charges among the user base.

We are testing new cards. Money is not the issue. Time is the issue.

and apparently the new Slingbox Pro is fully networkable as a uPnP device.

In a 'perfect' world, MC (in server mode) would be able to manage multiple tuner devices for PVR as well as live viewing.
