Control MC with Bluetooth AVRCP
« on: June 26, 2007, 12:30:28 pm »

My searches for this topic seem to hit dead ends.

The Motorola S9 headphones work great with MC except they won't control it.

They DO control Windows Media Player just fine.

AVRCP is the "protocol" for Bluetooth "Audio Video Remote Control Protocol" and loads the Windows "Audio Video Remote Control Service" according to the BT config stuff.

Is this on the roadmap? or is there a plugin? or another way to make it work?

It should work - it works for me with the motorola HT820 headphones (unless it's somehow stopped working in recent builds - I haven't tried it very recently)

AVRCP should just be received on the PC as media keys, just like on a keyboard - what do you have the "Media key mode" set to in MC under Options\General\Advanced?

Yeah, I don't think there is much going on here right now: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=40550.0

ah, but that's different - your topic was about controlling it FROM a mobile phone.

BT headphones send AVRCP, and that does work with MC. BT phones expect to receive AVRCP...

Either way, there hasn't been much discussion about ARVCP. ;)

You are just right! I happen to use BT remote control (AVRCP) with two sonyericsson mobiles (Z610 & P990) and just bought the motorola headphone S9 .. they all just work seamlessly (together and) with Windows Media (which I refuse to use) .. it's somewhat frustrating that for some strange reason MC12 doesn't get the commands and starts doing weird things..

Someone said they actually had it working.. does someone know how can one remap de remote commands to make it work?

Well, as I say, it should work fine.

What have you got the setting I mentioned above set to?

What should Media key mode be set to for AVRCP to work?

I've tried all the settings. No luck. I suspect it's because the Toshiba BlueTooth drivers won't send the AVRCP to MC.
