MC12 - causing a lot of disc-activity
« on: August 04, 2007, 03:29:47 am »

Weird problem: when I launch MC 12 and starts to playback whatever file,
after -say- a minute or so there will be a LOT of disc-activity, resulting in
regularly halted playbacks.

This is defintely caused by MC12 playback. If MC12 is just opened and 'doing
nothing' there is no disc-activity.

Any suggestions?

try turning off auto import (tools > options > library and folders > run auto import in the background) and see if it still happens.

"playback whatever file" means what exactly? really "any file"? of any media type?

Any network drives involved?
any third party plugins running?

Could be building thumbnails which is intense until finished.

Could be podcasts.

A virus checker can sometimes cause bad problems like this if it's looking at every file every time MC accesses it.

Thanks to you both.

Marko:
I turned off auto import, let's see,
(btw: whatever file, i mean video file)
- no network drives
- no third party plugins

and
JimH
- no podcasts
- no thumbnails
- Virus Checker - will try to find out checking to processes (taskmgr) next time.
(I run Kaspersky and just added Media Center to the trusted zone).

reverting on this issue later

thanks again
