Updated: 19-Aug-2002

I Only Worked On It From 7:00Pm - 7:45Pm Today But Added The Following:

Added: Always On Top Option
Added: Update Artist Tag With Database If Found
Added: Update Song Name Tag With Database If Found
Added: Added An Option To Allow The User To Strip "The" From The Artist Tag
Fixed: The Loose Count Was The Exact Count (I Had The Count Boxes In The Wrong Place)

All New Options Can Be Saved

I Think It Works Good.

'Knockin' On Heavens Door' Peaked On The Top 40 Charts At 12 In 1973

I suggested adding "Erreichte Platz XY in YEAR". I thought about it. It's bad language. Better would be "Erreicht YEAR Platz XY", I think.

Maybe you should change this. Is anyone german speaking here to QS this?

Thanks,
Mirko

P.S. Is the comment added or still replacing existing?

Hi there

Your program seems to work fine up until I want to save the info to the tag and then it doesn't save the info.  I have run the autobatch goody and then selected manual save -should I be doing something else?

Some ideas - Option to select the UK or Euro Top 40, the option to select genre from your database.  It is a great idea and I would happily pay for the program.

Cheers

-*-*- Mirko -*-*-

You Can Set the Comment However You Like What Ever Language You Wish.

All You Need To Do Is Incert #POS# Or #YEAR# Where Ever You Wish The Chart Position Or Year In The Comment Rule.

And It Replaces The Comment Line.

I Will Be Looking At Searching The Id3v2 Comment If It Has A Comment Then Check To See If The Comment The Program Wants To Add Is Already There (In Case You Run It Twice On The Same File) If So Do Not Add To The Comment If Not Push The Comment Over Or Add To The End Of The Comment. This Would Be For ID3v2 Only And Id3v1 Would Be Replace.

Also I Am Looking At Adding A Option Button For Users To Save It To Other Tags You Might Not Be Using Like "Web Site" Or Something That MJ Shows In The Properties.

And Or Also If I Can Stick It Into MJ's Custom 1 - Custom 3 Tag Fields. I Might Look At That Today If I Have Time.

Give Me The Database And It Shall Be Done

Dave It Should Be Saving in Autobatch And In Manual Lookup (Its the same Code). Any Other Changes You Make To The Tags Does Need You To Hit The Save Button (Thats Incase You Change Your Mind).

I think I can get a database up for argentina from www.LT24Online.com.AR anyone interested?

the way they have there online database it takes a bit of editing, but it can be done by a cut and a paste & edit.

To See the changes in MJ you will need to update MJ's database.

you can delete the MJ database (not the files) and reimport.

or use the "library fuction" that will update the fields (a better way)

thats why your not seeing any changes.

I Forgot To Say, Ininstall The Old Version

It Was Installing In C:\program Files\Project1

When The New Program Is Installed The Location Should Be

C:\Program Files\Top 40 Finder

Someone Asked About The Ratings Tag

Well I Dissected A MP3, This And Some Of The Extended Tags MJ Saves Can Not Be Corrected And Will Be Lost Since They Are Not Saved To The ID3v2 Tags. This Includes Real Play Gain Settings.

I Can't Explain Any More About It Right Now.

Update:

I Just Put A New Version Up For Download

Updated: 20-Aug-2002

Fixed: Always On Top Option Would Not Stay On Top After The Program Was Shut Down And Restarted.

Added: You Can Now Save The Top 40 Info In 3 Tag Fields.

Since No One Has Said Anything Else Was Wrong, I Guess This Will Be It For Updates.

I Will Start A New Project By Using This Idea And Make A Plugin For MJ. Lets Hope I Can Complete That Task (Maybe With Some Help From J River).

The Advantage The Plugin Will Have Over This Program Will Be It Can Then Use All Of Tags Media Jukebox Uses, And It Will Then Also Work On More File (Like OGG, MPC, APE Etc....)

Yes as a matter of fact you can Sort the Comment Field And They Will Be Sorted By Pos On The Chart All Pos 01's Then Pos 02's. or you can sort by the date field.

and select what you want.

you will need to use the MJ lib Update option to allow it to grab the new comment field.

Well I Started The "MJ Plugin Top 40 Finder Program Project" (Code Word "Disco Dancing") Today

Right Now I Can Read The Playing Now Folder, And put It In A List And Fill The Text Boxes With The ID3 Tags. I Have Not Tried To Change The Tags Yet But If I Can Do That Maybe I Can Have Something Ready Soon Since Most Of The Code Is Already Written.

OK. It explains a lot. I have been listening to my Top 40 smartlist courtesy of your program and I noticed earlier today that I'm constantly reaching for the volume knob (I was about to investigate and report a problem with the latest version of MJ) - now I know why. Checking in the file properties inside MJ it doesn't look like the songs were ever analysed.

Your program definitely blows away the replay gain settings so I'm reanalyzing the songs your program touched.

Is there any way of you and Matt getting together to resolve the issues of the ratings / replay gain tags so that both programs will work together?

Also, what other tags show this level of incompatibility?

If you're developing a plug-in for MJ (great idea) then surely the plug-in and MJ have to work together??

Thats The Only Way, Right Now

>> Is there any way of you and Matt getting together to resolve the

Well, This Will Be Fixed When I Get The MJ Plugin Finished, Since Using MJ To Do All The Taging Work.

>> Also, what other tags show this level of incompatibility?
I Posted That In The Other Thread, But They Are Custom1-3, Rating, Album Artist And Replay Gain.

The Thing Is MJ Keeps All This Data In The Database So If You Do A Update All Fields Then Pull All The Files Back up Into Properties And Do A Save "Update All Files" All the Orginal Tags To Include The Replay Gain And Custome1-3 etc... Will Be Saved Back To The Mp3's.

Yesterday Matt Said That they Were Id3v2 Tags Well I Guess The Answer To That Is Yes And No. MJ Is Using A J River Tag "MJMD" Not An Offical Id3v2 Tag But It Would Work Up To The Point Of Compatability With Other Taging Programs That Will Also Wipe Out That Data If It Was Not Looking For It, And It Also Keeps This MJ Extended Tag Info in That Tag.

It Is Kind Of Like The MusicMatch Tags Someone Reported MJ Wiping Out, If You Do Not Look For It And Then Resave It When You Re-write The MP3 It Will Be Lost (The Latest version Of MJ Fixed That Problem BTW).

But Like I Said, All That Should Be Corrected Soon When There Is A Plug-In (Fingers Crossed). There May Be One Problem And That Is Selecting Files To Dump into The File List (Files To Lookup). But Matt Said They Think They Can Make Something Happen In MJ9 To Allow Users To Select The Files they Want To Send To A Plug-In.

By The way The Tools I Use To Read The ID3v2 And Save It Will Not See The MJ Tags (I Tried). I Think The Tools I Use Only Allow The Offical Id3v2 Tags. If It Would Have Looked And Saved Tag "MJMD" I Could Fix This In This Stand Alone Version.

You Got The Wrong Guy

Matt And The Rest At J River, Are The Best For Creating The MJ Tools To Write Plugins For MJ. As Matt And I Said Before Id3v2 Has Major Problems. And It Does Take Close To A PHD To Figure Them Out.

I Just Know A Little About Id3v2, And I Use Tools I Paid For To Write ID3v2 And Even Id3v1.1

I Do Have A PHD In Beer Drinking This Year I Have 2160 CCUs In The Beer Drinking Class.

Thanks for the utility! I'd been trying to clean up the Year category on my collection, but determining the 'Year Peaked' is too much work manually.

I did have 4-5 songs (out of 1,000) where it simply locked. I'm running XP Professional - and TaskManager would only kill it if I killed the Process (killing the Program did nada).

And... "Songs Found That Toped The Charts"  s/b "Topped".

Regardless - thanks again. If it would help to have an MP3 that caused a lockup, let me know.

I re-d'loaded. It is the same version. You either missed the fix or the latest isn't on the website.

I couldn't find an About type version, but the file version on the executable is 0.0.0.54 & Product Version is 0.00.0054.
