Sync problem
« on: September 11, 2007, 12:33:15 pm »

98% of the way through my 50 hour 1st sync w/MC12 a storm cut power, I learned that my UPS is broken (the machine rebooted), and the sync didn't complete.

Now when I try to sync, I get the following confusing info. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Files in the library (mostly APE/FLAC, being converted): 8134 (116.6GB)

From the status bar: Files on the IPod:  8134 (74.4 GB, Free: 25.6 GB) - an 80 GB iPod

Up top below the 'Sync Now' button it reads:
-2044 files Total
-Space Used: 48.8 GB of 74.4 GB

On the Sync/Action Window(?not sure what to call it) it reads:
Sync 5899 Files - 11.6 GB Over capacity.

When I try to sync it complains that I'm trying to transfer 11.6 GB more media than will fit and asks
if I want to delete files that won't fit.
When I began this sync process a couple days ago it did not complain.
I'm using these options:
MODE - convert unsupported formats and high bitrates
ENCODER - MP3/lame
Settings - VBR/Extreme
JPEG converted to 320x240
[T] - enable caching of converted files
[T] - delete form handheld files not in sync list
[4] - # of simultaneous conversions

Everything looked great until this happened. The iPod works fine and as far as I can tell all or most of the files transferred, but I know that the sync was about 45 minutes shy of finishing its job when power was lost. The iPod already had most of the files on it - many just had to be replaced (I just rescanned all my cds to APE) and the iPod had low-constant-bitrate copies of many of these songs which were being replaced (hopefully) during the sync.
Not sure how to proceed from here. Any help is most appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

If the sync didn't finish then the files got transferred to the device but not entered in to the database.  Best bet is to initialize the iPod and then re-sync.
