upgraded aspi to latest version, dropped buring speed to 1X, always writes the lead-in and then errors with the following message;

Error: 'WRITE' command failed on device 1:1:0
Unexpected TARGET error (04h 00h 04h)


WindowsXP normal cd creation via explorer works properly without errors as does musicmatch JUKEBOX burner so this is NOT a hardware or OS issue, this is a BUG in your software.

is there any more information i can give to get this sorted out as your program is the best i've seen so far (yes i paid for it) otherwise i wouldn't be complaining to get it to work properly

What burner do you use ?
Did you checked on Goldenhawk web site if it's supported ?
What drivers do you use ? - Did you try Options > CD Writer Settings > CD Writer > Use generic drivers ?

if you mean auto-insert notification, i already let mj disable it

i did find another driver file being used by the cdrw under device manager that belongs to another company (musicmatch) so i've renamed it and need to reboot to see if that was interfering with mj as well as checking that their program still burns without it

renamed mxlw2k.sys and it stuffed up both the cd and dvd devices, uninstalled put it back, rebooted and reinstalled and replaced the drivers, both are functioning normally again and don't use the musicmatch file.

tried to burn a cd from mj and the same error message came up.  tried buring with musicmatch and it reinstalled the musicmatch cd driver asked me to reboot and then burnt the cd without a problem.

no idea what to look at now

reformatted hdd, reinstalled winxp, (that was fun) still can't burn, the only time i could ever burn was when this machine was running winnt, no probs then.

am giving up now, unless someone has something easy to check or do, will just use musicmatch to burn like i have been, at least that burns without a problem.

I feel your pain.  I've been having the exact same problem.  I'm on a Sony Vaio RX770 with Windows XP and everything is fine until I get to the actual burn and then nothing but a ruined disc.  Checked all the ASPI crap and that was a lost cause. Don't know what to do either.  Really love MJ's sound recorder but it's becoming a pain in the rear to have to import files over to Windows Media Player to be able to burn.  I too think this is a MJ issue and can't seem to get any help.  CUSTOMER SUPPORT.....

There's a possibility of an MJ problem with LG burners in version 8. We've had several reports of problems with these (bird, is yours an LG?). I am investigating this and hope to have an answer soon. I will post information when I get it.

I am having the same exact problem with my TDK 40/12/48 in Win2k. It was working perfect until about the time MJ implemented internal ASPI layers, then I couldn't get things to work right since (not saying that's the cause, just the timeframe). It actually works intermittantly, but I haven't been able to find a common denominator to make it reproducable. Tried internal ASPI layer, Adaptec's ASPI drivers and generic. A fresh reboot sometimes make is cooperate, but is likely a fluke, unless it is resetting the drive/controller after a glitch. The generic driver worked for me once, but I don't like the 2 second gap either (I listen to a lot of DJ mixes and CDs where the artist runs songs together with intros, e.g Depeche Mode) I also updated the drive's firmware to the newest (t01). I have also placed the drive on my generic IDE controller and my PROMIS ATA100 controller. When I first moved it to the PROMIS controller, it worked very well for a couple of CD's that day, using ASPI drivers and everything, but bombed the next time I tried a few days later. I could maybe try rolling my PROMIS drivers back to 1.6 from the current 2.0. (possibly a conflict with ASPI and PROMIS's new ATA drivers?)

Any ideas fellas? I have one more thing I want to test as well. I am enjoying my new coaster collection, but darn...haha
