Problems to save cover art after getting from internet
« on: August 15, 2002, 11:54:22 am »

I have tried several times and got cover art fromt the net, once I see the cover art in the file properties window in 'image' I click save and select update all files (or selected file). If I then play the same track again, the cover art will not display anywhere. I tried several times now and don't know what it could be. Will it only work with the Plus upgrade? Can someone help please???

Thanks.

Hi Frankie,

Should work.

1. Highlight the song (or all the songs in an album)
2. Right-click -> Properties -> Image -> Get -> From Internet
3. When the right image appears, look under the image to see in wich folder it where saved (you can choose a specific folder within Options > Files Location & Settings)so you can check if the images are well saved and, if needed, edit them to fit on your Track Info Page
4. Hit the Save button : that's it (no need to update your files)
5. Display another album, then come back to the one you just got an image for and, when playing a track, the image must show up (depending, of course, of the Track Info Page you selected)

Hope this will help,

Yves.

I'm new to MJ and just registered it today.  I have experienced the same issue with MP3's and cover art.  When I assign the image, it always gets saved in the Image Directory but not always within the file itself.  I can verify this by renaming the thumbnail image.  If the cover art was saved in the mp3 file it should still display...  Correct?  Sometimes it does and other times it does not.

When I rip a CD that contains Various Artists, the cover art and directory structure is nearly always incorrect.  It seems as if the cover art feature searches AMG for an album by the first artist on the CD instead of just ignoring the artist and searching by Album title.  In this case, I always have to get the cover art manually and also move the files around into the correct folder otherwise I get a new folder for each song on the CD.

The other oddity is that the imbedded images always show up corrupted in MS Media Player 8.

Hi David,

Can't answer about the Image Search engine, I almost use CDcovers.CC.

About storing images inside the file - I never do it - there's a check-box "Store image(s) inside music file (if possible".
Could it be that it sometimes checked, sometimes not ?
I never noticed that kind of "misbehaviour".

The first time it happened, I thought that maybe it was not checked so I manually added the images.  It happened again to the same exact files a few days later.  I've upgrade to the latest version since I first began ripping all my CD's so I'll fix them again and see if the image sticks.

Hi David,

" It happened again to the same exact files "

Seems to be a tag problem - you still can check the tags of those files, using a tag editor (like Mr Tag, or another one) to see if it's really an MJ problem.

Can also depend on the format you converted to, if not MP3.
