While ripping/encoding or recording/encoding, my cpu usage is around 98%.  I dont' know if that is normal or not.  When I stop encoding, etc, my usage remains somewhere between 50% and 95%.  I know this is not normal!  The usage remains high even if I close MJ and any other open applications.

Any thoughts?

What processor?
What motherboard?

It sounds like a problem with your computer resources!

Sorry, I meant to add this originally.  My setup is this:

AMD XP 1800
Gigabyte GA-7RX mobo
Windows XP Prof.
512 DDR RAM
Hercules Fortissimo II soundcard

Open the task manager and look at the processes list.  You should be able to identify which process is spinning the CPU.

This used to happen to me a few build ago.

What i found is that after recrding from Line in the processor would stay at 90-100% even after i was finished.
Even if i closed all programs it was still up high.

If you look at your process list i then discovered that 2 other instances of Media Jukebox were still running and one of them was using 90% doing nothing.

I havent noticed the problem recently but if you just kill the extra processes and then start MJ again all is fine - until the next time.
