Beginner's problem about Cover art
« on: November 24, 2007, 09:20:37 am »

Please, I am new to MediaCenter, and I can not, even after browsing this forum and looking into Wiki, find out how to display the CD cover while playing the songs after ripping the CD. I have tried "Cover art - Get from Internet" which completes successfully, but still without any CD cover being displayed.

I am using the latest version, 12.0375.

Need help getting over the threshold ...

Hi LasseA

Click on "Playing Now" in the left margin.
And by right-clicking anywhere in the Playing Now top window you can select different displays in "Set display" >

I'm sure there are several other ways to display album covers. But I am only at the start of discovering MC ;)

To be sure that the album cover has been downloaded/added correctly, look at the small thumbnail versions of the album cover that appears in fron of the songs:

Hi again,

and thx for quick responses. It seems like the album cover has not been download correctly. I only see
a "note sign" instead of the cover images. As said above, getting it from the Internet seems to work, but leaves no result. What's next?

Yea that happens if the album is not so common.

What you can do is this:

* Do a google image search (artist - album)
* Right-click on image - copy image
* Select all album files in MC - right-click -> Cover art -> Paste from clip board (Image or URL)

Then it should appear in the file tags.

P.S
I usually look for the 300x300 pixel size images. It fits well in the Playing now window.

Thank you Higginz!

I did what you suggested, and it works. What now remains is my astonishment about
- Robbie Williams and Pavarotti not being big enough to be included in the database used by MC
- MC reporting that the "Get from Internet" was successful, when in fact it wasn't

Any ideas? Anyway - thanks!

Yea one would assume that both those artists and albums should be included in the database.
I've experienced this myself on some albums.
I have personally disabled the option of having MC automatically adding the album covers.
I now do it manually. That way I get the covers that I want, and in the right size.

Question: Has any other of your "Get album cover from internet" worked?.
You could test with other artist/albums.

Two good sources for album covers: www.walmart.com and www.amazon.com

Use save picture to save it to the album folder and in MC use Add From File in the cover art menu.
