FLAC plugins - internal vs scthom
« on: September 30, 2007, 05:02:32 pm »

As of version 331, MC 12 now includes a flac plugin.  They've based it on my plugin, with my permission.  They've had to modify my code since they are using a different compiler (2003 vs 2005).

I currently intend to continue to support my version, while JRiver will support their version.  They should be interchangable for now, and for a while there will be both versions.  After a while, I will stop developing the flac plugins and start to focus on the Wavpack and other plugins instead.

It's been a pleasure to have made such an impact with the flac plugins and I'm glad they're finally supporting it "out-of-the box".

Thank you, Scot, for your hard work that made my transition to lossless FLAC effortless!  You're the glue, scthom.

Oh boy! Wavpack builds.

Thanks for those and for the FLAC plugins.
They provide valuable capabilities for all of us.

Huge thanks Scot.  I probably wouldn't use MC still if it weren't for your FLAC plugin.  And that's really something.

Thanks, everyone.

Me too.  Which is why I was pretty committed to making it work.  I did try a number of other players, but they just didn't/don't compare.  I just wanted flac support, and JRiver had basically said at that point that they wouldn't do it.  Oblong's original plugin was pretty rudimentary, so I sucked it up and wrote my own.  Then shared it :-)

so easy to take the "it works for me, sorry if it doesn't for you" route, you chose the other way and provided excellent support for your plugins all the way through.

respect is most certainly due.
Thank You.

Scthom's FLAC plug-ins have been included with MC12 builds for about the last 30 days.
