Import problem - "phantom" files being found
« on: December 08, 2007, 12:01:13 pm »

I'm having a problem imporrting MP3 files with MC12 v386.

On running Import Files on my main library location with about 22,000 MP3 files in it MC finds duplicate "phantom" files which it shows in the filename field as having "//" in front of the file name itself. The correct file has just one "/" in it. Having "ignore files previously removed from library" ticked or unticked makes no difference to the result.

Deleting the "phantom" file from the library works - but it's a real pain having to locate them to delete them.

Can anybody help me with this issue?

TIA. John.

The correct file has just one "/" in it.

Please explain how this is correct. A filename cannot contain the / character on a Windows OS.

... or are you speaking about a Library Server connection?

I am sorry.

The correct files have paths like

F:\MP3\Karen Pree\Hayley\You've Gotten To Me.MP3

The "phantom" files are like this

F:\MP3\Karen Pree\Hayley\\You've Gotten To Me.MP3

The last ":" is doubled on the phantom files.

So when I run "Import Files" MC finds the new files but will also find "phantom" files as above.

I see.

That has never happened to me. What is your OS? Is the F: drive a network drive?

I'm running Win Vista - the "F" drive is an ordinary partition.

This has never happened to me either - only on v386 of MC12. I'm going to see if v388 has the same issue.
